Concert Day

Concert Drop-off, Supervision & Backstage Information

Parents and guardians are asked to bring their children to the roller door entrance at the back of The Art House. This applies for all rehearsals and performances.

Check-in & Supervision

On arrival, all children will be checked in and placed under the supervision of their assigned parent helper.

This is where students will remain between routines. Teachers and helpers will take them backstage for their performance and then return them to their supervising parent helper.

Costume Changes

If your child is in five or more routines, we recommend you or a family friend assist with their costume changes. I will set this up and provide further details soon.

Parents may still assist their children in the dressing room if needed — the backstage setup will be a little different this year, and I’ll update you once it's finalised.

Sign-out Process

After the finale, students will be signed out one at a time from the same roller door drop-off point.

Younger students will be brought out first.

Watching the Show

Some students may have the opportunity to watch part of the performance (e.g. if they only dance in one half of the program).

A ticket must be purchased for any child who wishes to sit in the audience.

If your child leaves backstage to watch the show, parents are responsible for both drop-off and pick-up. We must be informed in advance of concert days so our parent helpers are aware.

Backstage Setup

Students will be supervised at all times by responsible adults.

Dressing rooms will include activities and a live video feed of the performance to keep the children engaged.

Arrival

On concert days, all students are to arrive with their first costume on and hair and make-up completely done 45 minutes before our show start time.

Our show will start at 6pm sharp. Please be seated 5:50pm if you are in the audience.

Please enter via the back stage door below for rehearsal and shows at The Art House.

Audience Etiquette

  • Be a fabulous audience. We encourage enthusiastic applause during the performance. The more energy you give us, the more excited our dancers become!

  • The theatre kindly requests that everyone remain seated throughout the show. If you need to leave the auditorium during the performance, you will be allowed re-entry only between dances (the theatre will enforce this).

  • Please note that video recording and flash photography are strictly prohibited during the concert. We have professional photos and videos being done. Please inform your guests about this policy as well.

Parent Helpers

  • We need class mothers to supervise each class, ensuring the safety and well-being of our dancers. Our helpers are allocated a class or age group and stay in our dressing room assisting students with changes, entrance and exits to and from stage areas, etc. You will also be on make-up touch-ups, toilet runs, and everything else that happens in the changing rooms. It is an excellent idea for moms to help one show and watch another.

  • If you are able to be a volunteer helper, please fill in attached form and I will get further information to you in term 4.

  • If there are too many volunteers for one class, some may be asked to assist children from another class or take on other duties like check-in/out. It is all a very organized system.
