Costume Costs & Costume Fund Information
We work on an average of
$90 per costume
. Some may be more or less depending on the design and detail.
Please note: competition dance costumes are typically more expensive.
A$50 deposit per dance is required to secure your child’s costume. This deposit will be added to your Week 9 invoice (Term 2). If your child is in more than one dance, an additional $50 will be added to your Week 1 invoice (Term 3).
All deposits are due by Week 1 of Term 3.
You’re welcome to start paying off costume costs earlier by making payments into your costume accountant any time—think of it like a lay-by. For example, transferring $10 a week helps some families have their costumes paid off quickly and easily.
Please note:
Fees must be up to date for your child’s costume to be ordered.
Costume payments go into a separate account—please do not transfer them into your regular fees account.

Alterations are rarely necessary - you may have to adjust straps for your child - this is your responsibility.
All students' costumes will be tried on in class to ensure fit before taking them home.
Costumes include all accessories where we can (hats, gloves, etc.) but not tights, shoes, or stage earrings. These are all available separately mostly from our online shop.

Accessories will be in the pocket of your child's garment bag.
Underwear, if needed, under your child's costume should be skin color and not seen – this includes bra straps. No nail polish or fake tattoos. No earrings unless they are part of your costume. You can purchase stage underwear here: https://www.cmda.com.au/products-list
All costumes must be fully paid for before your child receives them, and your dance fees must be current. Unfortunately, this sometimes means half a group gets their costumes, and half doesn't.
Costume manufacturers do not accept cancellations or refunds; therefore, I cannot refund costume deposits.
When students are in costume but not performing, please have them wear some form of cover-up. A bathrobe or oversized button-up shirt works well. Nothing we need to lift over their heads. Cover-ups help prevent costumes from getting dirty and keep them a surprise for our audience.
Please do not send your child to the dress rehearsal or concert with snacks or beverages that could stain their costumes. Water is the best beverage.
Please label all costumes, shoes, accessories, and tights with your child's name. Please don't iron your costumes unless they are a iron-able fabric - hanging them in the shower so the steam releases the creases is the best option. Please hang up and unzip your garment bag for airflow.
Please remove any tags from the costume that can be seen and sew any loose or unattached costume straps before dress rehearsal. Many costumes come with headpieces or hats. We will provide instructions on how to wear them at our dress rehearsal. Please only allow your child to wear their costume during our dress rehearsal, photo day, and concerts.
Always have a spare pair of tights available. Clean shoes is a must.
During the concert, some students may have quick costume changes. A dedicated team of concert helpers (mums) will assist these students, ensuring their costumes and accessories are ready backstage.
